The class of 2023 presents Image and Power – an exhibition exploring the influence of visual media to transform, manipulate, and disrupt society. For this investigation, each student selected an iconic graphical work that they felt served as a powerful activator of social, environmental, and/or political change. Their topics center on printed media from a variety of sources including historical photography, non-profit/civic design, protest art, and propaganda. Through research and visual mapping, students explored the ways in which their selected visual media empowered, transformed, and/or misdirected human behavior. To showcase their learning, students produced teaching websites using the computer programming language, Javascript. Students also worked in drawing, painting, and collage to create lawn art signs that re-examine and remix their subject matter in an authentic and artistic style.
We hope you enjoy our exhibition!
